MINUTES OF THE
CENTRAL CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION
APRIL 20, 2009
The
Central City Board of Education met at 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 20th, 2009 in the Central City Board of Education room at
1711 15th Avenue. Roll call showed the following members
present: Sally Armatys, Steve Belitz,
Kent Malm, Dale Palser, Lisa
Wagner, and Brad Wells. Also present were Candace Conradt,
Superintendent; Shawn McDiffett, High School Prinicpal; Dick Moore, Middle School Prinicpal;
and Darlene Darbro, Elementary Principal.
Absent: None.
It
was moved by Belitz, seconded by Wells, that it is
hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by advanced publicized notice
in the Republican-Nonpariel newspaper and by posting
notice at the Superintendent's Office at 1711 15th Avenue, and is hereby declared to be
duly convened in open session. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys,
Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent:
None.
The
school district treasurer's financial report disclosed a reconciled unencumbered
balance of $684,150.55 as of March 31, 2009.
The
high school activities fund account disclosed a balance on March 31, 2009 of $136,044.48,
middle school activity fund disclosed a balance of $18,262.73 and the
elementary activity fund disclosed a balance of $18,928.92. The cafeteria
account disclosed a balance of $42,065.63.
It
was moved by Malm, seconded by Wagner, to approve the
agenda of the meeting. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None.
Absent: None.
It
was moved by Malm, seconded by Belitz,
to approve the consent agenda action items, which included minutes of the March
16th and April 9th and 13th meetings, financial
review of funds except check #20979 and manual check #296 to Olsson Associates
for $695.01, April Investment Plan, option students, and March claims. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.
It
was moved by Armatys, seconded by Malm,
to approve warrant #20979. Motion
carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys,
Belitz, Malm, Wagner, and
Wells. Nayes: None.
Abstain: Paler. Absent:
None.
It
was moved by Belitz, seconded by Wagner, to accept the
resignation of Sarah Hutsell
as Middle School Special Education teacher and Bobby Kelley as Middle School
Physical Education teacher at the end of the 2008-2009 school year. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells.

was moved by Wagner, seconded by Belitz, to accept
the proposed graduation requirements as amended from first reading. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and
Wells. Nayes: None.

was moved by Malm, seconded by Armatys,
to approve the price for varsity sporting events to $5 for adults and $4 for
students. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and
Wells. Nayes: None.

It
was moved by Palser, seconded by Malm,
to hire Tessa Kroksh as First Grade teacher for the
2009-2010 school year. Motion carried
6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser,
Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None.

was moved by Belitz, seconded by Wagner, to hire
Andrea Day as Second Grade teacher for the 2009-2010 school year. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and
Wells. Nayes: None.

seconded by Malm, to hire Allen Duerksen as Elementary Physical Education teacher for the
2009-2010 school year. Motion carried

Jo Ditoro as High School Special Education teacher
for the 2009-2010 school year. Motion

was moved by Palser, seconded by Wells, to hire Adam
Martin as Grades 7-12 Vocal Music teacher for the 2009-2010 school
year. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and
Wells. Nayes: None.

It
was moved by Armaty, seconded by Wagner, to approve
administration office summer hours.

was moved by Palser, seconded by Belitz,
to go into executive session at 10:20 p.m. to discuss superintendent evaluation
and CIR. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent:
None.
It
was moved by Palser, seconded by Armatys,
to go out of executive session at 10:47 p.m. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent:
None.
It was moved by Armatys, seconded by Wagner, to recognize Holly Rodriguez
for Gold Art award at state competition and State FFA honors to Daniel Schwarz
for purple ribbon in Ag Agronomy and the team of Daniel Schwarz, Mitchell Zimbelman, Brandon McNeff and
Ryan Dettman for 3rd place in Ag
Mechanics. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes: None. Absent: None.
