MINUTES OF THE

CENTRAL CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION

April 21, 2008

The Central City Board of Education met at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 21st, 2008 in the Central City Board of Education room at 1711 15^th Avenue. Roll call showed the following members present: Sally Armatys, Steve Belitz, Kim Benner, Kent Malm, and Dale Palser. Also present were Dr. Jeff West, Superintendent; Shawn McDiffett, Senior High Principal; Dick Moore, Middle School Principal and Darlene Darbro, Elementary Principal. Absent: Dave Christensen.

It was moved by Benner, seconded by Malm, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by advanced publicized notice in the Republican-Nonpariel newspaper and by posting notice at the Superintendent's Office at 1711 15^th Avenue, and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: Christensen.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Belitz, to add item #17 to amend the superintendent contract of employment document. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: Christensen.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Malm, to add item #18 to discuss personnel issue. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: Christensen.

The school district treasurer's financial report disclosed a reconciled unencumbered balance of $456,280.73 as of March 31, 2008.

The high school activities fund account disclosed a balance on March 31, 2008 of $120,033.66, middle school activity fund disclosed a balance of $16,422.25, and the elementary activity fund disclosed a balance of $16,890.93. The cafeteria account disclosed a balance of $32,728.03.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Benner, to approve all sets of minutes from the March, 2008 board meetings. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: Christensen.

Christensen arrived at 7:12 p.m.

It was moved by Benner, seconded by Belitz, to hire Brandon Wright as Chemistry/Physics teacher. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Armatys, seconded by Christensen, to hire Sarah Hutsell as Middle School Special Education teacher. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Belitz, seconded by Malm, to accept resignation of Brandon Lechtenberg as Alternative Education Teacher at the end of the 2007-2008 school year. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Armatys, to accept resignation of Adam Lambert as Vocal Music Instructor at the end of the 2007-2008 school year. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Christensen, seconded by Malm, to accept the option for Clair Dush and Abigail Williams to option out of the Central City School District into Palmer Public Schools for the 2008-2009 school year. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Christensen, to vote for Daryl Anderson for Legislation Committee Member #14 for NASB. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Belitz, seconded by Christensen, to set the meeting time to 7:30 p.m. for June, July and August board meetings. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Benner, to approve the amended superintendent contract document. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Christensen, to approve the April warrants with the exception of #19360. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Christensen, seconded by Belitz, to approve warrant #19360. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, and Palser. Nayes: None. Abstain: Malm. Absent: None.

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Armatys, to approve the April Investment Plan. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Armatys, seconded by Belitz, to recognize Mr. Mousel and the Graphic Design class for the Bison drawings for the Middle School gym floor. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Armatys, to go into executive session at 9:16 p.m. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Benner, to go out of executive session at 10:25 p.m. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Benner, Christensen, Malm, and Palser. Nayes: None. Absent: None.
