CENTRAL CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION                                                                   February 16, 2009

 

The Central City Board of Education met at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 16th, 2009  in the Central City Board of Education room at 1711 15th Avenue.  Roll call showed the following members present: Sally Armatys, Steve Belitz, Kent Malm, Dale Palser, and Lisa Wagner.  Also present were Candace Conradt, Superintendent; Shawn McDiffett, High School Prinicpal; Dick Moore, Middle School Prinicpal; and Darlene Darbro, Elementary Principal. Absent:  Brad Wells.

 

Wells arrived at 7:02 p.m.

 

It was moved by Belitz, seconded by Armatys, that it is hereby determined that this meeting was preceded by advanced publicized notice in the Republican-Nonpariel newspaper and by posting notice at the Superintendent's Office at 1711 15th Avenue, and is hereby declared to be duly convened in open session. Motion carried 6-0. Ayes: Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells.  Nayes: None. Absent: None.

 

The school district treasurer's financial report disclosed a reconciled unencumbered balance of $1,067,847.40 as of January 30, 2009.

 

The high school activities fund account disclosed a balance on January 30, 2009 of $135,392.91, middle school activity fund disclosed a balance of $15,149.53 and the elementary activity fund disclosed a balance of $19,370.98. The cafeteria account disclosed a balance of $15,238.01.

 

Lisa Wagner took the Oath of Office.

 

The Board heard presentations on the Reading First Program and the Career Fair.

 

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Wagner, to approve the agenda of the meeting.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Belitz, to approve the consent agenda action items, which included minutes of the January 19th meeting, financial review of funds, February Investment Plan, option students, and January claims.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Armatys, seconded by Wagner, to approve the 2009-2010 driver’s education fee of $220 for in district students and $250 for out of district students and set teachers hourly wage at $20.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Wells, seconded by Malm, to update the authorized signatures on accounts as presented:

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Wells, to accept the resignation of Andrew Barber as Grades 6-12 Vocal Music Instructor at the end of the 2008-2009 school year.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and  Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Malm, seconded by Belitz, to approve administrative contract for Darlene Darbro.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes:  None.  Absent: None.

 

It was moved by Wagner, seconded by Malm, to approve administrative contract for Dick Moore.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Armatys, seconded by Wagner, to approve administrative contract for Shawn McDiffett.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells. Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Malm, to increase all principals and superintendent salaries by 5%.  Motion carried 5-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, and Wagner.  Nayes:  No.  Abstain:  Wells.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Belitz, to go into executive session at 9:15 p.m. to discuss CIR.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and  Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Armatys, to go out of executive session at 9:40 p.m.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and  Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.

 

It was moved by Palser, seconded by Belitz, to recognize the  Wrestling team for their accomplishments and the following students that made it to state:  Connor Bolling, Eric Knight, Kevin Smith, Logan Williams, Josh Dickinson, Noland Broekemier, Noah Broekemier, Kameron Lenhart, Travis Maresh, Levi Dixon, Tyson Sutton and also to Coaches  Garfield, Ganser and Maresh.  Motion carried 6-0.  Ayes:  Armatys, Belitz, Malm, Palser, Wagner, and Wells.  Nayes:  None.  Absent:  None.
