PROGRAM DETAILS
Central City High School has approximately 239 students enrolled in the 9-12 program. The school has 26 teachers, sharing seven of those teachers with the middle school. The school offers an array of classes in the areas of college prep, vocational, resource, and fine arts. CCHS sends a Calculus class via distance learning. Students have the opportunity to receive college credit and high school credit for Calculus,Trigonmetry, and Algebra II through Central Community College at Columbus.
All high school students are enrolled in homeroom for 17 minutes at the beginning of 2nd period. During homeroom, students have the opportunity to watch Channel One, a 12 minute televised current events/news broadcast. Additional time during homeroom is allowed for various school organizations to meet. Homeroom also gives students a chance to meet with the other teachers, the guidance counselor, and the building administrator.
The Central City Booster Club is a group of parents who are interested in bettering the environment surrounding our Central City athletes. They are instrumental in setting up the annual Booster Club Banquet that salutes the accomplishments of both the athletes and coaches of Central City High School. The Booster Club has assisted in purchasing items that are outside (the realm of) the budget of the athletic department. Two of those purchases this year include a computer and software programs used for keeping statistics in all sports; also the Booster Club helped buy headphones for the football coaching staff. Other activities with which the Booster Club assists are a pre-season Sports Night, Parents’ Nights, and Senior Night celebrations. The Booster Club also helps by providing a meal for teams during their respective seasons.
The Central City Music Boosters is an organization that does limited fundraising for both the vocal and instrumental departments. They also assist in arranging for parent sponsors for music activities and trips.
