The following article was taken from the January 17, 1935 edition of the Central City Nonpariel
"Local fans were elated Tuesday upon hearing the report of Supt. F. L. Holmes that Central City High School had joined a newly formed athletic conference. Supt. Holmes and Principal Verne Arnold attended an organizational meeting at Seward Monday night. Superintendents, principals and coaches from Seward, Schuyler, Aurora, David City, Stromsburg and Central City were present. Fullerton was invited to join by the newly formed conference and accepted Wednesday. Some doubt was expressed regarding the possibility of Stromsburg staying in the conference.
Superintendent Young of David City was named president of the league with Principal Del Danker of Aurora being named secretary-treasurer. The evening was spent discussing plans and regulations for the remainder of the year and next year.
As the present basketball was well on its way, nothing could be done about basketball champion on the percentage basis. However, as every team in the league is playing a league member on February 22, those games will count as first round games in a conference tournament. The secound round and finals will be playe at Aurora Saturday afternoon and evening, February 23. Supt. Holmes invited the conference to hold its track, tennis and golf championships at Central City some time in May.
Regulations adopted for the year incluude a rule requiring each league member to play five member schools in football and every member in basketball in order to qualify for championship.
Supt. Holmes, whose efforts in conjunction with other superintendents, made the league possible, stated that it has been impossible to draw up suitable schedules in the past because of the league entanglements of other schools. Now, with five league games as a nucleus a truly representative schedule can be arranged for local fans."
The name "Central Six" was adopted and used through 1947.
