Notes on classification of teams at the Nebraska State High School Track Meet:
1. From 1899 - 1919 there was only one class at the meet.
2. From 1920 - 1928 schools were divided into three groups at the meet. Then beginning in 1929 the meet expanded to four groups with group "four" being comparable to today's Class A.
3. For the depression years of 1933, 1934, and 1935 there were only three classes .
4. The year 1935 marked the first year that schools were divided into Classes A, B, and C. A fourth Class was added in 1936 named Class D. The four Class format has continued at the State Meet ever since.
